Privacy Policy

This page describes the BetterWarp editor itself. Whoever hosts a BetterWarp instance or collaboration server should extend it with their own details.

What the editor collects

BetterWarp contains no analytics or tracking scripts. (The Google Analytics tag present in upstream PenguinMod was removed.) Projects you open from your computer stay on your computer unless you join a collaboration room.

Local storage

Settings, addon preferences, restore points and the backpack are stored in your browser's local storage / IndexedDB and never leave your device.

Collaboration rooms

When you create or join a room, the collaboration server receives: the display name you type, your project data (so it can be relayed to other members), your block edits, and your cursor position. The reference server keeps all of this in memory only and discards a room shortly after its last member leaves. Room passwords are stored only as salted scrypt hashes, in memory. The server operator can see your IP address, as with any website.

Third-party services

Some features talk to other services: loading a project by ID fetches it from PenguinMod's project API; extensions, the packager link and some libraries load files from PenguinMod, TurboWarp or the extension's own host. Those services have their own privacy policies (for example PenguinMod's).
